1st meeting at ISSI (Bern): March 8 – 12, 2027

Phase 1: Preparation (Months 1–8)
- Compile key literature, datasets, and methodological approaches related to elastic hydrological loading and multi-mission water storage observations. Prepare concise state-of-the-art summaries.
- Define key scientific & methodological challenges for integrating various RS observations.
- Circulate short background notes among team members to prepare discussion topics.
- Conduct logistical and scientific planning for the first ISSI Team Meeting.
ISSI Team Meeting 1: Conceptual framework development (Month 9; March 2027)
- Establish a shared framework that links geodetic loading signals to hydrological observations.
- Identify the key uncertainties in Earth model parameterization and loading theory.
- Discuss strategies for integrating multi-mission satellite observations across spatial scales.
- Sketch synthesis paper sections and define thematic working groups to advance them.
Phase 2: Collaborative analysis and synthesis (Months 9–18)
- Conduct coordinated comparisons and illustrative case studies across different spatial scales.
- Evaluate approaches for integrating geodetic and hydrological satellite observations.
- Advance draft sections of the synthesis paper.
ISSI Team Meeting 2: Integration and manuscript preparation (Month 19; Jan 2028)
- Integrate results from working groups.
- Finalize the conceptual framework and community guidelines.
- Complete and refine the synthesis manuscript.
Final phase (Months 19–24)
- Submit synthesis paper to a peer-reviewed journal and provide the final report to ISSI
- Present results at international conferences by team members (not ISSI funded)
- Explore follow-up collaborations and joint research proposals.
