We intend to organize two meetings of 5 days each separated by at least 6 months. Due to the current public health situation, we would like to organize the first meeting ideally close to the end of 2022, in order to maximize the chance to organize this meeting at ISSI without facing any restrictions. Depending on the evolution of the epidemiological situation, we might need to organize our first meeting online which should be fine considering its main goals. Hour-long virtual tag-up meetings will be hosted once a month between our face-to-face meetings to ensure regular updates.
First meeting 30 January 2023 – 3 February 2023 (Bern)
Expected inputs
- Present the issue of the exosphere-surface interactions as seen when observing the exosphere (e.g., what can be learned from the exosphere on the surface composition and structure),
- Present the same issue as seen when observing the surface thanks to the laboratory experimentalists of our team,
- Discuss how progress in the description of both environments could be achieved by sharing the experiences of both group of scientists.
Expected outputs
- How to integrate the main conclusions from our discussion into the models describing the fate of the exosphere when interacting with the surface,
- How to take into account the derived new constraints for the exospheric models.
Second meeting Date to be chosen
- Results and issues to be presented during a second meeting,
- Evaluation of the accuracies of these approaches in reproducing a diverse set of observations (from space observations and laboratory experiments).
- Final publication plan with the submission of at least two papers on model-data-comparisons using detailed surface interaction descriptions.
